If anyone actually follows this blog and is a real completist about things, you might have noticed that I never posted a sad hockey guy from the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I think I was in denial. I didn’t want to accept that the season had ended. Now that the new season is starting (finally), I think it’s time to put last season to bed.
There are a lot of great photos out there but maybe someone out there has a favorite. Send it along and I’ll feature it next week.

Whooops… I never made send off posts for the Coyotes and the Rangers. So here they are, even though no one will see them because no one cares about the Coyotes and Rangers right now.

There are so many excellent Sad Flyers photos out there. I’m having a hard time picking one for my Playoff Sadness post.

There haven’t been any TOSG posts lately because my team made the Playoffs. I was preoccupied with watching the games and then spending hours debating the merits and demerits of each player and coaching decision and fucked up call on the ice. Also it felt like bad karma to make posts about sad hockey players because I didn’t want my team to end up on the end of a joke about being sad. Then my team was eliminated, and it was my turn to be that one sad guy for a few days.
I’m finally done feeling sorry for myself. I have some catching up to do. For the next few days, enjoy these posts of sad guys being eliminated from the Playoffs. Sooner or later I’ll catch up with the actual games and we’ll be able to laugh at sad guys in a more timely fashion.
There are going to be a lot more sad guys in the weeks to come - more than I can keep up with. Don’t forget to send any truly disheartening ones my way. Submission button on the right, @sadhockey, or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/SadHockey)

The Caption Contest is on! Details here: http://sadhockeyguy.tumblr.com/post/19401197471/caption-contest-time-send-in-your-captions-for#disqus_thread
Now announcing TOSG’s first Caption Contest! I have a seriously awesome sad guy for you guys. Look for it tomorrow at noon. A quick rundown of the rules:
- Captions should be written from the point of view of the sad guy (or guys), not the happy guy (or guys).
- That’s the only rule.
You can submit your captions either through tumblr (use the “questions” button on the right), twitter (@sadhockey), or facebook (https://www.facebook.com/SadHockey).
Check back tomorrow for our captionless photo!
