That one sad guy
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Call for submissions!

If anyone actually follows this blog and is a real completist about things, you might have noticed that I never posted a sad hockey guy from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  I think I was in denial.  I didn’t want to accept that the season had ended.  Now that the new season is starting (finally), I think it’s time to put last season to bed.

There are a lot of great photos out there but maybe someone out there has a favorite.  Send it along and I’ll feature it next week.

These Jersey guys have a lot of nerve running through our slumber party.

Look out!  Bear hug!  Aaahhhhhhh!

If I leave right now, I bet I can get to the goalie store before it closes.

I really should have learned how to ice skate before I signed up for hockey.

I think I just figured out why more conjoined-at-the-head twins don’t play hockey.

Twitter follower @TrustdDisgustd commented on these sad guys I posted last week, pointing out that the fans in the background are very, very sad.  Seriously, look at those people.  It’s epic.  Which made @TrustdDisgustd wonder how bad that goal was.  Good question.  Let’s find out.
It turns out that this photo is from Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Quarter Finals in 2009, and Jokinen has just scored the game-tying goal with about a minute left on the clock.  Devils fans rip their own faces of in agony as they helplessly watch this happening in front of them.  Staal then scores the game winner moments later.  Too bad none of that matters because the Pens won the Cup that year (whooo!)

A special sad hockey guy for you today.  This is a gif of Elias celebrating a goal.  See that guy falling on his face?  That’s Sykora, who clearly wanted to congratulate his teammate.  Instead, Elias blows right by him, arms open wide to hug the rest of the team, leaving Sykora to pick himself and his pride back up off of the cold, cold ice.

I’ve never felt so alone.
